Intellinews Romania Corporate Today – EBRD arranges a USD 300mn syndicated credit for Mobifon mobile phone operator
Mobifon mobile phone operator and EBRD bank agreed on a USD 300mn credit, which will be used for the payment of debts of Mobifon and the expansion of its network, according to The Guardian. The USD 300mn credit consists of a USD 230mn credit granted by EBRD, and two USD 35mn loans granted by Export Development Canada and Nordic Investment Bank. Furthermore, out of the USD 230mn, USD 120mn come as a syndicated loan granted by international banks among which were ABN AMRO Bank NV, Bank Austria Creditanstalt AG, Nederlandse Financierings-Maatschappij Voor Ontwikkelingslanden NV, Raiffeisen Zentralbank Oesterreich, Citibank, Nordea and International Finance Participation Trust. At the end of July Mobifon mandated EBRD to manage the USD 300mn loan. The main shareholders of Mobifon are Telesystem International Wireless (Canada) – 63.5% and Vodafone – 20.1%.
